It all began thanks to Alejandra, who was absolutely obsessed with talking about Ray to me. No matter what I was doing, she would always bring him up, and I’ll admit, I got a little annoyed and asked her to stop talking about him. Every time I needed help, she’d suggest, “You should message Ray!”
But in July, we started chatting through our work chat, and I have to say, the connection was instant. I remember going to Puerto Rico with my family, and while we were at the beach, I couldn't stop thinking about Ray. We kept talking through our work chat when I got back. Then, after Ray returned from his California trip in August, we picked up the conversation again. I asked for some pictures and casually shared my number (since he was taking his time and not asking). From that day on, we haven’t stopped talking.
And now, here we are—together and so grateful for the unexpected way it all came together. Who would have thought that a bit of persistence (and a little push from Alejandra) would lead to this?
Our love story began when my former colleague, Alejandra, decided to transfer departments, leaving her position open. Coincidentally, it was the same position I had held in 2022 before moving back to Glenbrook. Though I had changed roles, I never lost touch with Alejandra and always kept in contact with her.
She started her new position about a month before I returned, and she constantly mentioned that she had an amazing coworker who was single. She believed we would have a lot in common because this coworker was family-oriented and involved in church. I didn’t think much of it at first—I brushed it off because Alejandra always spoke highly of everyone.
On my first day back at Glenbrook, my boss and I went to get my new ID and stopped by to say hi to Alejandra. That’s when I met Krystle. My first impression? She was beautiful. Her smile was warm, her eyes were bright, and something about her immediately pulled me in.
As I settled back into my position, Krystle would call or message me on our work chat, asking for help with patients. Meanwhile, Alejandra kept encouraging me to ask Krystle out, but I was too shy and didn’t want to cross that line at work.
Fast forward to July, Krystle and I started chatting more on our work messenger, and the connection was instant. Our conversations flowed effortlessly and lasted all day. Around that time, she left for a family vacation, and that’s when I realized how much I missed talking to her. It felt real. When she returned from Puerto Rico, we picked up right where we left off.
In August, I traveled to California for my friend’s engagement, but I couldn’t stop thinking about her. I kept wondering, How can I think so much about someone I barely even know? That’s when I promised myself that as soon as I got back, I would ask her to lunch so we could get to know each other better. Even while I was on vacation, I was eagerly waiting to return to work just so I could talk to her again.
When I got back, Krystle asked to see pictures from my trip and, to my surprise, beat me to the punch—she asked for my number first. From that moment on, we texted and talked all day, from morning until we went to sleep.
I started questioning my feelings, wondering if they were real because I had never felt anything like this before. Finally, I asked Krystle to lunch, and she agreed. And guess where she wanted to go? If you know her, you know the answer—McDonald’s. That caught me off guard because, funny enough, I love McDonald’s too.
From that point on, we have been inseparable, sharing laughter, love, and countless unforgettable moments together. Who would have thought that returning to my old position would lead me to meet the love of my life and future wife?
